Americans eating Italian in Korea

Last Friday night, everyone was tired of being in the hotel, so we walked just off post to find Italy, Italy. The chef has reportedly been to Italy to study their cooking and has brought back several recipes to offer right here in Daegu.  Molto buona!

On Saturday night, we decided to eat at Tower 83.  We took the subway to EWorld, an amusement park here in Daegu, and walked around the park to the tower.  I will know next time that, though it is not a terribly long walk, it is all uphill…not great in heeled boots.

Today, M and I made our way back to Seomun Market to do further investigation.  Ms. Yi, a lady who works at the chapel, offered to take us down there so M could find yarn.  WOW!  Our brief stop at the market a couple of weeks ago did not do this area justice!  There are so many shops, vendors, food trucks…M said we could spend 3 days just walking around looking at everything and getting lost.  We visited a few yarn shops before she settled on her purchase, and then we sat down for lunch at one of the food vendors.  We tried mandu and spicy noodles. For dessert, I had hotteok, a sort of cinnamon/sugar pancake.   All in all, a fun and tasty experience.

Last but not least, the reports are true. (Not that I didn’t believe my friends, but there is something about seeing and tasting for yourself.)  I think we will get along in Korea pretty well if we can always default to Bluebell.
